Survey: SMBs ignoring mobile threats
Some small businesses may not be as protected from mobile theft as they believe. That according to a new survey out from Kaspersky Lab which indicates nearly two-thirds (62%) of SMB owners and employees are using personal mobile devices at work.

This BYOD - Bring Your Own Device - trend isn't in itself a horrible thing, unless the mobile networks the devices hook into are unprotected. Unprotected networks can leave businesses open to data loss and other security threats.
"It is increasingly rare to come across a business professional who doesn't use their own mobile device for work. A laptop or smartphone enables you to do a large part of your business tasks remotely, from any global location. However, the loss of important corporate data via personal devices is a common occurrence, and a negligent attitude towards the security of mobile devices could pose a serious risk to a company's business. That is why it is important to use a reliable dedicated solution that addresses all modern requirements and market trends," said Konstantin Voronkov, Head of Endpoint Product Management, Kaspersky Lab.
Some interesting takeaways from the Kaspersky report include:
• 92% of employess/owners 'keep sensitive corporate data' on mobile devices which are also used for personal activities
• 60% say they rely on their employer for mobile security
• 32% of SMB owners 'don't see a danger' to employees using personal devices while at work
• 58% of larger corporations 'do see a danger' to employees using personal devices while at work
