92% of brands believe mobile is important

According to some experts, between 25% and 50% of you are reading this post on a mobile device. Consumers and business professionals have pushed into the mobile space quickly, using mobile to stay connected, share insights and - let's face it - geek around. New data out from Syniverse shows just how important many believe mobile has become for businesses.

One of the most interesting findings: most businesses aren't handling mobile in-house. According to the report three-quarters (77%) of those surveyed depend on outside vendors/experts to execute the mobile strategy.

Syniverse and iGR have released the results of a global survey focusing on the importance of mobile in the business space; researchers surveyed both Fortune 1000 companies responsible for customer-facing apps. According to the report:

• 92% believe mobile solutions are 'important or very important' to their business
• 84% 'plan to incorporate' mobile into marketing comms
• 88% say they have a 'defined' mobile strategy

Of those with a strategy nearly half say they are currently implementing said strategy while 24% say the strategy has been fully implemented at this point. Just over 10% say they were still developing a mobile strategy for their business.

One area of mobile which allows businesses to thrive is the local space. From local-online resturants to bigger brands with stores in many cities, the ability to 'go local' with advertising has been shown to deepen consumers' engagement levels. According to the Syniverse data nearly three-quarters (73%) of businesses surveyed have defined a location-based strategy, allowing them to use geographic profiling to better engage shoppers.
