Albuquerque -, The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has embarked on a nationwide tour to commemorate Small Business Week, with a recent stop in Albuquerque. On Friday, Cabinet member Isabella Casillas-Guzman attended the SBA Luncheon held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, where city leaders and small business owners gathered for the ceremony.
Honoring New Mexico’s Entrepreneurs
The event provided an opportunity to honor and recognize the hard work, resiliency, adaptability, and steadfastness of New Mexico’s business owners and entrepreneurs, as emphasized by John Garcia, the SBA district director. New Mexico, home to 162,000 small businesses, has experienced significant growth in this sector.
Isabella Casillas-Guzman, the SBA Administrator and cabinet member, expressed her excitement regarding the small business boom in New Mexico. She highlighted the fact that 51,000 new business applications have been filed in the state alone, underscoring the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit within the region.
Supporting Small Businesses
During her address, Guzman emphasized the range of services offered by the SBA to assist small business owners. The organization provides mentors, free advisors, and classes to help entrepreneurs navigate the challenges they may encounter. This support aims to foster the success and growth of small businesses in the region.
Boosting Infrastructure Projects
Guzman also shed light on the significant investment in infrastructure projects and the opportunities they present for small businesses. With historical levels of infrastructure funding, New Mexico has already initiated over 200 projects, offering valuable contracts to small businesses involved in road and bridge construction, airport development, and broadband infrastructure expansion.
Inspiring Continued Success
The SBA Luncheon served as a platform to inspire and motivate small business owners to persevere in their endeavors. Cabinet member Casillas-Guzman expressed the SBA’s commitment to supporting these entrepreneurs, emphasizing the importance of their success to the overall economy.
“We want those small businesses out there to know that there are people who care about their success. Our economy relies on their prosperity,” stated Casillas-Guzman.
As the U.S. Small Business Administration continues its celebrations for Small Business Week across the country, events like the SBA Luncheon in Albuquerque aim to recognize the contributions of small business owners while providing them with the resources and encouragement needed to thrive.
