Study: Men shopping more than women online
Some interesting take-aways from the Consumers Tell All report include:
• 60% are shopping online at least monthly
• One-third of men shop online at least weekly
• 76% of 18-49 year olds shop online at least weekly
• 66% of Western consumers shop online at least monthly
“According to the data, consumers are not spontaneously window shopping online stores or casually browsing product pages. They are utilizing multiple devices to extend their shopping experience and influence purchase decisions, creating a nonlinear ‘path to purchase’ that today’s marketers need to understand and embrace,” said Jim Davidson, Head of Research for Bronto Software. “The research included in the ‘Consumers Tell All’ series provides insights to help today’s marketer understand the customer lifecycle, behaviors and preferences that can assist in the development of effective strategies to meet the demands of the consumer-driven e-commerce landscape.”
About one-quarter (24%) of respondents say they shop online at least once each week. It’s interesting to note that female shoppers have decreased how often they shop online; female shoppers who said they shop online once per week dropped 7%. Weekly shoppers over age 40 declined.
Bronto will release two more pieces to the report – how shoppers are buying via mobile devices and how shoppers are utilizing shopping carts. Both follow-ups will be released in 2015.
