latitude_logo_din_copy_reasonably_small.jpgCEO at Latitude Digital Marketing, Alex Hoye, expects to see over 10% of website traffic coming from mobile devices by the end of 2011, reports New Media Age.

His comments come after the release of new data that shows paid search clicks on mobile accounted for 8% of total search in Q2 2011, up from 6.5% in Q1. Tablet visits grew to 1.5% of visits during Q2 2011, compared to 1% in Q1.

Similarly, click through rates on mobile averaged higher than desktop at 4.7% compared with 3.8%.

“Mobile is growing faster than spend, which means that the arbitrage between desktop cost-per-clicks and mobile cost-per-clicks remains,” said Hoye.

“While there’s less real-estate on mobile at the moment, I doubt this will be forever so companies should take advantage of the cheaper rates now to get a benefit in terms of their cost-per-click.”

Latitude’s findings also reveal the automotive sector registered the highest gains in mobile click volume. This ties in nicely with research recently carried out by Jumptap that found while visitors to online auto websites grew 30% year on year visitors to mobile versions of those sites grew more than 15 times that – 463% year on year.
