Ecommerce may be a global business opportunity, but a new report from Oban Digital advises brands to think about sales in a localized manner – even with that global strategy. That is because there are events around which retailers can plan sales and promotional pushes.

Events like the Eid al-Adha religious festival; consumers from nations including Saudi Arabia and Egypt take part. People visit relatives, plan trips to Mecca; the report notes that in Saudi Arabia people spend more than $2 billion on the event.

Closer to home, Mexico has a ‘Hot Sale’ running between May 29 and June 1. In other regions there are events like White Day and Defender of the Fatherland.

“Some of the biggest opportunities in global e-commerce are campaigns centered on local events both traditional and newly emerging,” says Greig Holbrook, the Founder and Managing Director of Oban Digital. ” These dates present unique opportunities for brands across the globe to capture and engage customers.”
