Web.com focuses on the needs of small businesses and offers custom web design and solutions to millions of people. It also offers services related to web hosting, domain name, online marketing, email, and security.

It is an easy-to-use website builder that will help you create your own website in a minute regardless of your skills level.

We offer you a comprehensive review of this platform and help you decide if it is the right service for you. We also offer you alternatives in case you don’t like Web.com services.

Web.com Advantages

  • Have a drag and drop editor that is easy to use
  • It has several attractive customizable Web.com templates
  • Numerous photos are available on the site.
  • Great customer support.

Overview of Web.com

Web.com is not one of the most affordable website builders in the market but offers great features for small business users. However, it offers discounts for new customers that can stand in for the free trial that it lacks.

In general, Web.com is a great website builder tool if you don’t need a complicated customized feature and design for your site. There are several template designs and colors to choose from. Editing a website is pretty easy, making it a great solution for people with zero design or coding experience.

But I have to say it is not the most flexible and comprehensive site builder you will find in the market. It won’t meet the needs of a business user who would want to be able to edit every single minor detail of their design layout.

Our review will help you discover if this is a great service for you. And if you don’t find it a great service, we will reveal the best alternatives.

Is This Brand Right For You?

For freelancers and small business users who don’t need complicated customized features and design, this is a great option. It is a simple tool that offers just enough features for an average website.

Web.com Pricing and Plans

Website Builder

This plan allows you to create a homepage, a blog, a contact page, and a portfolio. This plan is designed for businesses or individuals that are just getting started online. It doesn’t have an online store and therefore is geared towards businesses that want to build brand awareness through blog content, looking to promote services and generate calls to action (CTAs) to get responses from potential customers.

It offers all the necessary features including:

  • Web.com website builder
  • Web.com’s massive collection of stock images through Unsplash
  • Dozens of templates to create the layout for your page
  • A free domain for one year
  • Access to a “website coach” to aid you in creating your site
  • Web.com support
  • Optimization for mobile devices

This plan offers a one-month discount at only $1.95. Afterward, you will embark on paying the full price which is $22.95.

Website and Online Marketing

The marketing plan will offer you all the features that you will get in the starter plan plus a few marketing upgrades. These business upgrades include:

  • Placement of your business profile in multiple local directories
  • Submission to major search engines like Google™, Yahoo™, and Bing™

This plan also offers a monthly discount of $2.95 and then the full fees of $29.95 per month.

It doesn’t have an online store as well, but it is great for enhancing search engine presence. For that reason, it is a great option for businesses looking to raise a company’s online profile, boost its SEO results, and bring more visitors to its site.

Website, Marketing, and Store

This plan includes a lot more features on top of what you will get in the first two plans. These include:

  • Ability to sell up to 50 products in an online store
  • Accept credit card payments
  • Set up a secure shopping cart
  • Order tracking and management.

This plan is designed for small businesses that want to sell a limited number of products in an online store through their websites. It is also a great option if you have your own online store.

Your first month’s monthly fees will only be $3.95. The full monthly charge for the rest of the months is $39.95.

Customer Service

Web.com customer support receives a lot of praise from the customers. The support agents offer several numbers of communication channels including phone contact and email. Their phone number is posted prominently on every page of its website.

In addition to the company email, the Help button on the site builder will also offer you tutorials for FAQs.

Ease of Use

Web.com’s website is very simple and easy to use. With its drag and drop tool, placing new elements is very easy. Besides, it offers a variety of pre-designed blocks that can be added directly to a site with one drag.

Web.com also makes it easier to choose royalty-free images from Unsplash from within the website builder.

However, some functions require a little more time to learn. These, in particular, are the functions that involve cropping and sizing of images.

Included Features

Mobile optimization

Web.com offers a mobile site only as part of a more advanced package. Mobile optimization allows you to add and manage a mobile version of your site at additional charges. However, their ‘mobile theme’ doesn’t offer a lot of options in terms of design. For a better mobile website builder that will offer you a lot of traffic or more control of your site, this may not be the best site builder for you.

SEO Tool & Marketing

In order to promote your website on Google search results, you will need a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tool. Web.com offers a number of SEO features. The most expensive SEO package includes complete SEO support and services, as well as monthly consultations with a dedicated SEO expert. The good news, you can still get their SEO services even if you decide to do things by yourself.

Social Media Tools

Web.com offers basic social media tools in the main site builder menu that will allow you to add links to your social profile or like/share buttons. It supports social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and Google+.

E-commerce

Web.com offers an e-commerce package that allows you to quickly set up a shop and sell up to 500 products. Payment options include PayPal and credit cards.

Apps and Plug-in

Web.com offers a limited number of apps such as a search box and map – there is no store. But you can add an HTML snippet to your page for custom code.

Overall

Generally, this Web.com website builder has an easy-to-use interface with convenient drag-and-drop functionality, plenty of templates, and easy access to thousands of gorgeous images.

It is an appealing option for small businesses who are looking for a tool that will help them set their site up and running within a short time.

However, this is not the best website builder if you are looking for a stunning and interactive digital online presence. It can’t deliver stunning pages, innovative tools, a scalable site, or even a decent range of templates.

Besides, it is a bit pricey. Their basic plan seems cheaper but just for a month. After the one-month discount elapses the price shoots up by $10 dollars.

For great website building, you may consider the following alternatives.

Fill in Brand’s Disadvantages

  • Web.com does not offer a free trial
  • Images can be tricky to edit
  • Overpriced plans
  • Messy customization tools

Conclusion

Web.com features an easy-to-use site editor that offers a great selection of templates and design options for small businesses. However, we were less than impressed with the platform’s site editor’s lack of features for their high price. It doesn’t offer email marketing and the starter plan doesn’t have essential SEO features.

We feel that a serious website user can be better served by website builders from Wix and GoDaddy. These two platforms offer better customization options, more marketing tools, and even better support for growing your business.
