‘Visually wired’ disposition behind massive rise in infographic use

Infographics are an increasingly popular way in which to represent marketing content and a new infographic shared by visual marketing agency NeoMam Studios provides information on why they are so well received.

First and foremost, us humans are visually wired with half of the brain involved in image processing. That’s why it only takes a tenth of a second to understand a visual message. Therefore, it’s far easier to get across information in the form of an image that it is via text explanations.

And, in today’s digital information age where we are bombarded with five times as much information than we were three decades ago, we suffer from information overload. On average we are consuming around 34 gigabytes of information each and every day – and that doesn’t include information absorbed during working hours. That’s why information in the form of images has become popular – saving precious time and making the volume of information being taken in easier to digest.

According to Neomam Studios, as well as being easily understood and digested, there are many other reasons why infographics have become so popular. They are more engaging, more accessible, more persuasive and easier to recall.
