How Much Does An LLC Cost In Nevada?
Nevada LLC formation costs start from $425. Let’s take a closer look at the detailed breakdown.
1. Choosing Your LLC Name ($0–$25)
Your business name needs to be clearly distinct from all registered entities with the Secretary of State.
You can verify if your name is available using the free Nevada Business Search tool.

If you’re not ready to file yet but don’t want to lose your preferred name, you can reserve the name for $25. This secures the name for 90 days.

For more details on naming an LLC in Nevada, read my full guide: Nevada Business Name Search.
2. Appointing A Registered Agent For Your LLC ($0-$199 Per Year)
NRS 86.231 requires every LLC to appoint a Registered Agent with a physical Nevada address (P.O. boxes are not allowed).

Your Registered Agent can be:
- A commercial Registered Agent service.
- Yourself.
- A trusted friend or family member.
If you serve as your own Registered Agent, you won’t have to pay for anything. However, I strongly suggest hiring a commercial service as they’ll handle your notices for you and keep your personal address off public records. You should expect to pay up to $199 per year, depending on the service.

Pay the full fee when you file. This amount represents the base LLC cost in Nevada that you should budget for.
Note: My Articles Of Organization In Nevada guide explains all the steps and provides tips to make sure your filing is accurate.
4. Drafting The Operating Agreement For Your LLC ($0)
Nevada doesn’t require you to file an Operating Agreement when forming your LLC. However, I strongly recommend that you write one for your LLC. It minimizes conflict by defining roles, responsibilities, management structure, and profit distribution.
You can create one using the instructions from my article: Operating Agreement In Nevada and a free template below.

5. Obtaining Your LLC’s Employer Identification Number (EIN) ($0)
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issues an Employer Identification Number (EIN) that you can use to open a business bank account, hire employees, and file taxes.
You don’t have to pay any fees to apply for one.
- For U.S. residents: Apply online through the IRS website and receive your EIN Confirmation Letter instantly. For a step-by-step guide, read this article: How To Get An EIN Online.
- For non-U.S. residents: Get an EIN by submitting the Form SS-4 through mail or fax. Check out my article: How To Get An EIN For Foreigners.
For detailed instructions, read my Getting An EIN In Nevada guide.

6. Getting Your LLC’s Local And Professional Business License (Varies)
Many Nevada counties and cities give their own business licenses and require renewal every one or two years. For this reason, license fees vary widely based on location and business type.
For example, the Clark County Department of Business License sets license fees using a classification-based Schedule of Fees that varies by profession.

You can see location-specific licensing obligations on the New Business Checklist page.
Additionally, your business might require additional licenses or permits on top of a general business license. These usually fall into three categories: Professional, environmental, and public health.
Some professions require acceptance or licensing from a specific Nevada state board before operating.
Certain businesses need environmental permits for air quality, water use, or hazardous waste management. Others require public health permits to meet safety and compliance standards.
Check the Licensing/Permits resource to identify which licenses or permits apply to your LLC. Ultimately, this will depend on your business type.
For more details, read my article: Nevada Business Licenses & Permits For LLCs.
7. Filing For Your LLC’s Sales Tax Permit ($15 Per Location)
You’ll also need to register your LLC with the Nevada Department of Taxation. Before filing for a Sales Tax Permit, your business must already possess an EIN and a Nevada business license. This costs $15 per business location.

You can apply for this permit online through My Nevada Tax or submit Form F006 by mail.
If your LLC only needs a Consumer Use Tax Permit (Use Tax Permit), you pay no fee.
Note: Nevada DOESN’T mandate an annual renewal for Sales or Use Tax Permits. Therefore, you only pay the application fee once for each Nevada business location.
To find out more, read my guide: Nevada Sales & Use Tax Permit.
8. Filing Your LLC’s Annual Documents ($350 Per Year)
You’ll need to submit an Annual List to the Secretary of State. It should be updated whenever ownership or management changes occur; each filing costs $150.
Plus, you are required to renew your Nevada business license every year. This will set you back by $200.
Read my Nevada Annual List & Business License Requirements article for more details.
9. Satisfying Your LLC’s Tax Obligations (Varies)
a. Federal Taxes
Your LLC doesn’t pay federal income tax directly. Instead, members report profits or losses on their personal tax return. They also pay federal income tax + 15.3% self-employment tax.

Typically, members make payments quarterly on April 15, June 15, September 15, and January 15 of the next year.
b. State And Local Taxes
If required, your LLC must collect and submit Sales & Use tax to the Nevada Department of Taxation. The base state rate currently stands at 6.85%.
However, local jurisdictions may apply extra taxes, which change the total rate. You can confirm your exact rate using the state Sales Tax map, provided by the Nevada Department of Taxation.
Beyond Sales & Use Tax, your LLC’s tax responsibilities depend on your industry and activity level.
To stay compliant with tax requirements, I highly recommend consulting a qualified accountant.
