Website upgrades a priority for business

Website upgrades a priority for businesses
In 2022 more businesses are prioritizing upgrades to their existing websites.

Many executives hope website upgrades will increase customer engagement.

70% of executives say they will upgrade their website in 2022

Look for more businesses to launch a website redesign in the coming year. That is a key takeaway from a new BestSEOCompanies report. According to researchers about 7 in 10 executives say that a website redesign is ‘urgent’ for 2022.

Redesign demands have increased sharply since the beginning of the pandemic. This is likely related to the number of consumers who, during lockdowns, began turning to online outlets for everything from news and entertainment content to their next grocery order.

One new report identified shortfalls in many branded websites causing shoppers to look elsewhere for products and services.

Increasing sales, traffic key priorities for businesses

When looking at redesign elements more than half say they will ‘take inventory’ of their high performing content pieces and will also analyze all site content. Also high on executives priority list for redesign elements are:

  • Increasing brand awareness (49%)
  • Driving sales (44%)
  • Increasing traffic (43%)

Incorrect business information turns customers away

One key issue for businesses after a redesign is that some elements of their business information or links are broken in the process. This is especially important as we roll through 2022 because the pandemic so fundamentally changed how consumers look for business information. For many, their first stop is to type in the kind of business or service they’re looking for in a search engine. If the information included in these listings is off, the business can be irreparably harmed.

According to data from BrightLocal about two-thirds of consumers are now using business listings to find a new business, but nearly the same amount (63%) say that finding incorrect information on a business would stop them from using that firm.

“But it’s important to remember that business listings aren’t only used by new customers, and can have a far-reaching impact beyond the first interaction. 48% of consumers use listings to find information on businesses they have used before. This could be double-checking an address, or phone number, or viewing more in-depth details, such as the products in stock, any safety measures, or deals that the business might have,” write the report authors.

Most people using business listings (85%) say they’ve found incorrect or incomplete information business listing information within the past year.
