Report: Mobile to be key for holiday sales

When it comes to holiday shopping, retailers can expect more of the shopper research, product comparisons and even buying to be done on mobile. That according to a new Instart Logic report which suggests more than half (62%) of consumers use their mobile devices throughout the customer journey.

Shoppers are using their mobile devices for more than reviews or price comparisons - they are using the devices for research (77%) and reviews (73%) and buying. That according to Instart Logic which reports that shoppers are turning to their mobile devices for purchases because of the convenience factor (73%).

Other interesting findings from the report include:

• 61% of shoppers 'are deterred' from shopping a site because of slow load times
• 58% are deterred by complicated navigation
• 55% say if mobile sites are slow they'll likely purchase from desktop or laptop later

But, even though consumers are becoming more comfortable with mobile shopping, most (76%) are still concerned about sites storing their credit card information, and 43% say they would shop more often via mobile if they 'were more confident' in security measures.

From the experience side of things shoppers report:

• 35% say they'll come back to a site only once if it fails to load
• 27% say they'll keep refreshing a page until it loads
• 62% say they spend more time on sites because of the quality of merchandise
• 58% say they spend more time on sites with simple navigation
