Forecast: Local promotions key for holiday retailers

Turns out local promotions would be more important that ever in swaying consumers to purchase. That's the takeaway from a new Eyeview report which indicates more than half of shoppers will be influenced to purchase thanks to a local promotion.

Those local promotions will be more important than ever because the Eyeview survey indicates about half (52%) of shoppers will research purchases online before going to stores this year.

"The Eyeview holiday shopping survey uncovers valuable findings and shows that retailers have a huge opportunity to influence shopping decisions through strategies like localization and shifting in traditional targeting for digital campaigns during this time of year," said Oren Harnevo, CEO and Co-founder at Eyeview. "We learned that many people are shopping at the last minute, providing marketers with the opportunity to advertise lower in the purchase funnel during this holiday season."

Other interesting findings from Eyeview's report include:

• 58% of shoppers are influenced by location promotions, 10% say email promotions are influential
• 85% of shoppers likely won't stick with their holiday list while shopping, 1 in 3 report having no budget
• Men are more likely than women to make impulse purchases during the holidays
