Teenagers in the U.S. spend twice as much time on their mobile devices each day as they do with traditional TV or desktop computers, according to a survey by Refuel Agency.

It comes as no surprise to discover, via Refuel Agency's survey, that 'Millennial Teens' - those age 16-19 - spend an inordinate amount of time with their mobile devices. It is their favorite screen and the mean time spent using mobile each day is 6.3 hours compared to 3.5 hours each on computer and watching television.

Smartphones were ranked as the most important device (55%) while television was the least important (7%).

Overall, the mean time spent with technology over the course of a day totals 17.3 hours, and those eyeballs are valuable to marketers with one in three influenced by advertising. Online video ads were cited as the format most paid attention to (40%), followed by ads on social media (27%) and search (14%).

More than a quarter (28%) of Millennial Teens said they spend more on technology than they do on life's basic necessities such as food and clothing, and they plan to purchase a variety of devices in the next year.
