New Zealand sees significant growth in mobile advertising

New Zealand, a small country at the bottom of the world, is making news headlines around the globe thanks to its huge growth in mobile advertising.

Here in Godzone, tucked away under Australia, we're making headlines thanks to InMobi's latest annual Mobile Insights Report. Usually more famous for our rugby players and sheep population, this time New Zealand is in the spotlight for its huge growth in mobile advertising.

According to InMobi, 4.4 billion ad impressions were served on its network in New Zealand in 2014 - not bad for a population of just 4.4 million. In 2013, 3.3 billion ad impressions were served. Furthermore, InMobi found that in-app advertising increased 45% in 2014 accounting for 71.7% of all ad impressions.

"This significant growth on our network is further indication of the rapid shift in consumer behavior in New Zealand, reflecting both an increase in audience size, as well as an increase in activity," said Jon White, regional director and GM for InMobi in Australia and New Zealand.

"While we now expect growth numbers for mobile to be big on our network, these figures indicate that mobile advertising is certainly still in a strong growth phase in New Zealand. This in turn becomes a more important shift in consumer behavior for marketers to consider."
