Among small businesses in the U.S., WebVisible found the average spend on paid search advertising to be $2,327 in Q3 2010 – a 43% increase on the same period last year.

While 43% is a healthy rate of growth, it is a fraction of those recorded in previous quarters. Spending was up 159% in Q2 2010 and 111% in Q4 2009.

A mixture of experience and smart spending has helped small business hone their search spending activity to optimum levels. This has led to more small businesses getting the results they want along with the highest return on spend.

The overall U.S. paid search market saw spending increase 5.8% YoY in the third quarter, according to a new report from SearchIgnite.

Search marketing software solutions provider Covario found Q3 2010 paid search ad spending among their tech clients is up 20% on Q2 2010 and 47% up YoY.
