TypePad: “Like” button boosts blog traffic 200%

typepad.jpgWhen TypePad announced to its bloggers that they were integrating the Facebook Like button with their platform they promised more visitors. Has this eventuated? Apparently so.

Writing on the official TypePad blog, “Everything TypePad”, a team member has shared figures that show referrals from Facebook are up by 200%.

Initially, after around 1,500 bloggers installed the Like button for the blog sidebar, a 50% increase in referral traffic from Facebook was observed. This jumped to 200% after a further 2,400 bloggers added the Like button to their post footers.

“As you can tell, there’s no denying that readership on Facebook can have a powerful impact on a blog’s traffic with the right tools,” reads TypePad’s blog.

“TypePad bloggers such as Andrew Bleiman of Zooborns.com and Jennifer of realia reported in the Everything TypePad comments some healthy growth in their traffic numbers since they added the “Like” button.”

However, as Tech.Blorge’s Sean Aune points out, with no raw data provided it’s difficult to judge just how impressive the 200% rise in referrals really is.
