SAP is a leader in the Platform-as-a-Service space, and their new updates will extend developers' ability to create cloud applications and connected enterprises. The new additions include SAP Web IDE which allows users to customize Web and on-premise apps; it also allows users to tailor the Web IDE directly within the plugin.

"The latest SAP HANA Cloud Platform updates make our PaaS Innovation Platform even more attractive for our customers and partners, giving them the speed and scale to develop enterprise applications and deliver the best user experiences possible," said Bjoern Goerke, executive VP and corporate officer, SAP. "This will help them accelerate digital transformation by quickly and easily delivering new applications and services on-premise and in the cloud."

SAP is also releasing the HANA express edition, a download version of their PaaS platform that included tutorials, access to the developer community and sample code.

"With this new starter SAP HANA express edition, we have been able to jumpstart our development immediately, using our existing personal computers," said Jean Safar, Chief Architect, Calypso Technology Inc. "With the pre-configured virtual machine option, it has been really simple to get hands on experience with in-memory technology and develop our initial version on sample risk related data sets. Additionally, the availability of the cloud offering and flexible upgrade options to full use editions, will help us further experiment and leverage SAP HANA to support our future technology innovation plans."
