Report: Olympics, DIY pushing mobile video

Heading up to Q3 2016, consumers were turning to mobile video more and more for a couple of outside the box categories: home improvement and pre-Olympic coverage. That's the word from Positive Mobile's new report.

According to Q2 data from Positive Mobile, Retail, Government/Politics and CPG categories showed the most mobile video growth with CPG showing particularly strong growth (34% share in Q1, 42% share in Q2.

"As outstream mobile video advertising becomes more mainstream, local and regional advertisers as well as national retail advertisers from various sectors looking for localized targeting have significantly increased their use of outstream mobile video via Positive Mobile," said Tzahi Stein, CEO & founder, Positive Mobile.

Other interesting findings from the Positive Mobile report include:

• The Home Improvement category in Retail increased from a 15% share in Q1 to a 35% share in Q2
• The Government/Politics category increased from a 1% share in Q1 to a 3.5% share in Q2
• In CPG, Beverages lead with a 37% share, Personal Care follows with an 19% share
• In Retail, Food Service (30% share) follows Home Improvement
