Expert: Look for more from mobile apps

It's no secret that the mobile space is blowing up, but it is interesting to note that through the skyrocketing of usage, the app space continues to push forward as well. One expert says that growth will continue to be important for brands.

Kristina: If I were to look at the apps on your phone, what would I find out about you?

Tyler Davidson, Co-Founder & Chief Revenue Officer, PushSpring: It's funny, we play this game all the game at PushSpring. We've got a diverse group of people at the company, and everyone's app preferences are so different. I'm travel frequently for work, listen to a ton of music, and spend a lot of time outdoors. So, my go to apps are: Uber, airline apps, HotelTonight, Sonos, Soundcloud, Spotify, REI, and Strava. I also consume a ton of news and economic data, so I'd have to say Bloomberg, Flipboard, and The Economist.

Kristina: Where do you see the world of mobile apps heading in the future?

Tyler: There's a bunch of industry buzz around Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Drones, and Internet of Things (IoT). Mobile apps will support and enable each of these areas to move from buzz to reality. Today's smartphone has more computing power than yesterday's supercomputers. So, everyone is walking around with a supercomputer in their pocket and there's an entire device and app ecosystem that's on the verge of exploding in growth. We saw the first instances of growth with health and lifestyle oriented products like the FitBit, and connected home and vehicle apps like Nest and Waze. The next wave of growth will be fuelled by devices with apps pairing with VR headsets, or AI enabled apps with bots to do certain tasks.

Kristina: So what does all of this innovation in apps and connectivity say about the future?

Tyler: I'm optimistic that the overwhelming majority of innovation will drive improvements in people's personal and professional lives. I like the fact that companies have invested in the development of a thriving app ecosystem to make so many aspects of my life easier and better than ever.
