Surveys: Moms have plans for Mother's Day

When it comes to Mother's Day shopping, moms may be getting their own gifts this year. That's the takeaway from a new Ebates survey which found half of moms pick their own gifts 'at least sometimes'.

As to what moms want this Mother's Day, 63% say they want to spend quality time with their family while one-third say they'd like flowers and chocolates or a spa day.

"This year's survey demonstrates that gift choices vary between moms, with some looking forward to the classic gifts like flowers and chocolates, and others looking forward to getting pampered," said Kevin H. Johnson, CEO of Ebates. "At Ebates, we want to help shoppers take the stress out of finding the perfect gift for mom, while earning cash back."

Meanwhile, data from Yahoo indicates moms are definitely on the minds of their children. According to their recent survey 1 in 6 consumers say they'll spend more this year than they did last year on Mother's Day and half (52%) say they'll comparison shop to get the best deals. The

As to when kids (or their moms) should begin shopping, MediaMath's data shows most Mother's Day gifts are purchased between 5 and 10 days before the holiday; that means advertisers need to have their campaigns on-track by the first of May. Their research also shows CPMs are highest between 1 and 2 weeks before the holiday. Other interesting findings include:

• Mobile searches for Mother's Day increased 39% in 2015
• Mobile makes up one-third of Mother's Day campaign spending
