Report: Top 4 Millennial trends to watch

The Millennial generation is diverging from Gen Y and X and especially Baby Boomers. Here's what marketers need to know about Millennials.

First, Millennials binge.

While all American generations like their content, Millennials are more likely to binge on content - specifically television - than other generations. According to Mindshare's Culture Vulture Trends report 80% of Millennials binge watch video programming, averaging 8 shows within each binge.

Second, Millennials play differently.

While most Americans have grown up playing football, basketball or baseball, the Mindshare report findings show that E-Sports are a growing trend with younger generations. Things like YouTube Gaming and Twitch have caught on, with these types of sporting events numbering more than 2900 last year; that is up from 46 events in 2000.

Third, Millennials don't adult.

You may have seen the memes on social media - cuddly animals with their faces on the ground and the words, "I can't adult today". The thing is, Millennials are gravitating toward things like adult summer camps and adult coloring books.

Fourth, Millennial moms are adventurous.

About half of Millennials women are moms and most (57%) of them say adventure is very important to them. They also rate happiness and passion higher on the value scale than their older counterparts. Most (92%) share family milestones on Facebook.
