Flurry: It's a Phabulous holiday
Tech gear was hot this holiday season; one specific bit of tech, to be precise. According to new data out from Flurry just over one-quarter (27%) of new devices this holiday season were phablets.

Who needs a phone and a tablet when they can have one device that does both? According to Flurry the hottest tech this holiday season was the phablet with 27% of new device activations during Christmas week; that's an increase from only 4% in 2013. And, Flurry notes, new activations of devices with screens less than 4 inches were nearly zero.
Of the phablets out there, Apple's iPhone 6 (and 6+) are the hottest, holding a 12% share of the Apple devices activated Christmas week.
Other interesting findings from Flurry's data include:
• Apple holds a 49% share of all new devices, though that is a decrease of 2% from 2014
• Samsung holds a 19% share of all new devices, up 2% from 2014
• Microsoft's Nokia devices dropped to a 2% share of all new devices
"Once again, Christmas was the biggest day of the year for app downloads. On Christmas Day in 2015, Flurry tracked 2.2x as many app installs as on an average day in December. For app developers who scrambled to ship apps before the holidays and spent heavily on app marketing, it appears that the efforts have paid off," writes Jarah Euston, Vice President of Growth, Flurry.
