Brands: How to use events to engage

With social networks, always on mobile connections and a growing demand for a more personalized branded touch, events are picking up steam. One expert weighs in on what hosting an event can mean for brands.

Kristina: What trends are you seeing in the event space?

Jayna Cooke, CEO, EVENTup: Events are becoming a major marketing outlet for companies, spreading brand awareness through flashy venues and engaging activities. We are seeing more and more activation events with larger budgets and more client centric locations. For example, more and more companies are hosting their events in New York City.

Kristina: Events have gained steam over the past year or so, what is the key to making an online event engaging for consumers?

Jayna: Corporations are starting to think out of the box to impress their employees for annual events. This also comes into play when setting up events for client entertaining. The venue is a very integral piece to an event as it set the stage for the entire event. These days, venues are considered as carefully as the agenda, the technology needs and the menus. The right venue brings a different element to a meeting or conferences making your brand stand out by instilling a memorable occasion.

Kristina: What problem does EVENTup answer for brands?

Jayna: EVENTup provides a solution to easily source venues nationwide. There is no other comprehensive place to search, discover and compare venues. It is important to make sure enough information and inventory is on the website in order to cater to the majority of your consumers. Pictures, videos, detailed explanations, etc. are great tools to have on your site for the consumers to find what they want right away. The main challenge is getting the consumers used to this new disruption in the market. We make it easy for the client in California to plan their company's annual sales conference in New York City while never leaving the state with a click of a button. This is done through the wealth of knowledge presented on the site of each venue and market along with our concierge team. An in-person venue visit is not necessary when all of the pictures, floor plans, and videos of the venues are online.
