YouTube announced 80% YoY mobile growth

According to YouTube's CEO the video behemoth is now reaching more younger demographics than any other television network anywhere, ever - and that is just on mobile.

According to Susan Wojcicki, among those between the ages of 18 and 49, YouTube now has an audience larger than any television network. What is more extraordinary is that Wojcicki was only talking about mobile alone. However, YouTube does have the advantage of being a global service.

In the past year, YouTub e's user-base has risen by 40%, time spent on the platform has risen 50% and mobile use by 80%.

Robert Kyncl, head of content and business operations at YouTube, predicts that within five years the majority of ad-supported video will be delivered either on mobile devices or mediated through them.

"That means, that in the not-so distant future, ad-supported video equals mobile video. And that shift requires partnering with a new set of players who are as successful today on mobile as Hollywood has been in the living room," said Kyncl.

Earlier this year, a survey of 125 agencies, brands and publishers by Mixpo found that 87% plan to run video ad campaigns on Facebook. In comparison, fewer (81.5%) plan to do so on YouTube.
