Study: Video views on the up

Video continues to draw consumers' attention. That is the takeaway from a new FreeWheel report. The video platform reports that through Q1 2015 video videos increased 40% (vs. Q4 2014) while video ad views increased 45%.

Viewers are turning to the Internet for their favorite shows and content according to new data just released from FreeWheel. According to their report both long form and short form content views have increased over the past six months, and with those increases comes an increased to the number of video ad views.

Some interesting takeaways from the FreeWheel report include:

• Long form video content views increased 50% (YoY)
• Live content views increased 140%
• 30% of video ad views are now coming from smartphones/tablets
• OTT streaming device views increased 380%
• Smartphone views increased 105%
• MVPD authenticated views increased 328%

According to FreeWheel's numbers MVPD authenticated viewing now accounts for more than half (57%) of both long form and live content streaming.
