Study IDs what Apple Watch users are really up to

It's been on store shelves for just over a month, but even before it realeased pundits touted the Apple Watch as a game-changer for publishers and marketers. MBLM studied users through the first month of release to see what they are really doing with their watches.

New data out from MBLM shines a light onto what Apple Watch users are - and aren't - doing with their new devices. The biggest findings: people were quick to bond with their new watch and are now using their smartphones less.

"The Apple Watch is an effective device because of its ability to develop a powerful and intimate relationship with users," says Mario Natarelli, Managing Partner at MBLM. "With the watch, technology is further shifting from something we use to something that is part of us and that enhances us. MBLM is dedicated to leveraging this across how we market, build tools and apps and encourages brands to stay relevant and meaningful today."

Some interesting findings from the report include:

• Those studied check their phones less because they can tap their watch to check email, social media or texts
• While some users expressed frustration, most report they believe Apple will fix the bugs
• Younger Apple Watch users are more likely to engage with social media, texting or phone calls
• Older Apple Watch users are more likely to use their watch for weather updates or to check notifications
