Yesmail: Instagram integration low

Although it is one of the fastest growing social networks, many brands continue to stay away from Instagram. That is the takeaway from Yesmail Market Intelligence. According to their data less their one-quarter (23%) of brands 'regularly using' Instagram.

Although brands who are becoming active on social network Instagram are gaining followers at incredibly high rates, the brands moving into that particular social network remain few.

According to new data out from Yesmail, brands who have adopted Instagram as part of their social bubble are gaining followers at about double the rate they gain followers on other socnets. However, stand-bys Facebook and Twitter continue to rule the social space.

"It surprises me that more brands are not developing their presence on Instagram," said Michael Fisher, president, Yes Lifecycle Marketing. "With over 300 million users and 70 million photos and videos shared daily, by not investing in a social strategy that includes Instagram brands are missing a sizeable opportunity to further engage with their customers. Instagram is a great way for brands to increase consumer engagement. Although no industry has fully embraced Instagram, brands would be smart to create a presence on the platform to ensure competitive advantage and reap the benefits of Instagram's high follower growth rates."

Some interesting takeaways from the report include:

• 80% of brands studied have Facebook pages
• 82% operate Twitter profiles
• 60% are using YouTube

Of the brands operating three social networks at a time, 12% will include Instagram as part of their overall social strategy. Bump that number to 4 and about one-third (37%) will add Instagram as a strategy tool; of those using 5 social networks to reach consumers about 47% are utilizing Instagram.
