Ad Roundup: Video, social announcements give brands options

Two new releases into the online space underline the importance of both video and social for marketers heading into 2015. Details below:

First, Brightcove's new Brightcove Video Player is being picked up by many large video platforms. The new player supports the major mobile and desktop platforms and in head to head comparisons loaded 70% faster. Video hubs including AOL, Chartbeat, comScore, DoubleClick, SpotXchange and YuMe have all signed on to support the new video option.

"As the fastest, most flexible player on the market, the new Brightcove Player is the industry leading video player," said Mike Green, Vice President of Marketing for Media at Brightcove. "Complementing that with support from the most important third party technologies in the ecosystem positions it as the most powerful video player solution for publishers and distributors across the globe."

Meanwhile, Marin Software is entering into an agreement to buy French social ad platform SocialMoov. The platform gives marketers social media tools to help maximize social campaigns.

"Social is the fastest growing segment in online advertising and is essential for both brand and performance marketers," said David A. Yovanno, chief executive officer at Marin Software. "Once the transaction is complete, I believe the combination of SocialMoov and Marin Software will push our social offering to the forefront and strengthen our ability to target audiences across search, display and social channels. The SocialMoov team brings a level of expertise in social advertising that will prove invaluable to our research and development moving forward. We are excited to add their social solution to Marin's ad cloud."

The deal should finalize later this month.
