Photographs among Brits' most treasured possessions

Which items would be the first you would save if your house caught fire? According to a recent poll in the UK, sentimental Brits would grab their photographs before any other possession.

When asked "what would you save from a burning building?", the majority of UK respondents - a fifth - said they would not be rushing to pick up their gadgets or jewelry but instead grab their most treasured possessions - photographs.

Just 10% said they would save their laptops first and 5% would grab their mobile phones, jewelry or money.

Those aged between 45 and 54 were more attached to photographs than other age groups with 30% saying they were their most treasured possessions.

The poll highlights the importance of memories, according to Memory Huddle which operates a secure Internet platform on which users can store their precious image and video memories.

"It is clear from these results that people still invest as much emotional capital in their photographs as they ever did," says Memory Huddle founder David Phillips, "despite the fact that photos are now more often stored digitally on computers and in mobile phones."
