PayPal launches BlackBerry app

With the launch of its app for BlackBerry users, PayPal is now touting itself as being available on all major mobile platforms.

PayPal acknowledges that, with 1.4 billion shipments of smartphones predicted for 2015, there are an awful lot of people using a myriad of different mobile platforms.

However, as from January 7, 2015, anyone with a smartphone can use the payment service thanks to the introduction of an app for BlackBerry.

The app will initially be available only to users in the U.S., U.K. and Australia but more markets will be rolled out in the near future. BlackBerry users will be able to to do all the things you'd expect in PayPal such as send and receive funds, check balances and view the transaction history.

"The app is now compatible with the BlackBerry Q10, BlackBerry Z10, and the new BlackBerry Classic smartphone," announced PayPal on its blog last week. "What's even cooler? With this announcement you can now use the PayPal app on all major mobile platforms, including Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Fire OS."
