Is Zuckerberg about to put the chat back into social?
Chatting with friends on social networks could be taken to a whole new level with the purchase of speech recognition and voice interaction firm Wit.ai by Facebook.

Is Zuckerberg about to put the chat back into social? With more than 1.3 billion Facebook users tapping away on their keyboard to 'talk' with friends and family, perhaps the next logical step is to allow them to talk to their Facebook app to activate navigation or status updates or even integrate the technology to allow voice control of home appliances.
However, neither Facebook nor Wit.ai were upfront with how the technology will be used.
According to an announcement by Wit.ai, "Facebook's mission is to connect everyone and build amazing experiences for the over 1.3 billion people on the platform - technology that understands natural language is a big part of that, and we think we can help".
"It's also possible," says Kurt Wagner, associate editor (social media) at Re/code, "that Facebook sees this as a developer play -- that is, it wants to offer this technology to other mobile developers building products that work alongside Facebook."
