Location based mobile hub Retale surveyed more than one thousands consumers in early November about mobile commerce options. While most (58%) believe mobile payment options would ease their in-store purchase path most remain concerned about data breaches/privacy, theft of a mobile device and how they would keep track of mobile spending. At the time of the survey only about one-third (36%) say they've used mobile devices to pay for items in the past.

"Though the majority of shoppers have yet to use mobile pay, they do see it as an increasingly useful way to pay in-store, particularly during busy shopping periods," said Pat Dermody, President of Retale. "For retailers interested in bridging the gap between online and offline, mobile may offer a solution."

Some interesting findings from the report include:

• 57% say retailers whould offer mobile payment options in-store
• 58% say in-store mobile payment options would be convenient
• 68% say they'd be most interested in using mobile pay options for purchases of $50 or under
• 20% say they'd use mobile pay options for purchases between $50 and $250
• 50% say they'd use Paypal to pay in-store, 10% would use Apple Pay

As for the breakdown between demographics, Millennials are most interested in mobile payment options. Researchers found 53% of Millennials have used in-store mobile payment options and 73% say they 'are interested' in mobile payment options for the 2014 holidays.
