Survey IDs what shoppers want from retailers
If you think a loaded online website is the key to customer satisfaction, think again. A new report out from Interactions identifies what shoppers really want from their favorite retailers, and the results may surprise many.

A flash program on a website, ten checkout options or in-store kiosks. All important to retailers performance, but are they what shoppers are really looking at?
Not necessarily, at least according to new data out from Interactions Marketing. According to the fourth Retail Perceptions report what shoppers are really looking for is more simple: cleanliness and fast and friendly service. Some interesting takeaways from the report include:
• 46% of shoppers say their in-store experiences are 'unsatisfactory'
• Of those nearly 25% switch to competitors rather than telling the retailer
• 22% of grocery shoppers will switch to a competitor store for cleanliness
• 55% say they are 'dissatisfied with checkout experiences' at local grocers
• 54% say local grocers' employees 'don't meet their expectations'
The report, "The In-store Experience Revealed: What Drives and Keeps Shoppers in Your Store," can be found here.
While this survey focused on grocery stores, there can be parallels found in many local stores - friendly and helpful service continues to go a long way, especially during busy shopping periods like the holidays or back to school seasons.
