BigCommerce release uses real time to boost revenue

Over the past few years real time data has become something of a buzzword for etailers. This week one ecommerce platform is launching a real time solution set up to drive new revenue. The solution gives access to top level data and capabilities to smaller retailers, somewhat leveling the playing field.

Large retailers and big box stores have some advantage over smaller online retailers - primarily name recognition. Most shoppers think about buying a toy from Walmart, for example, or picking up a new video game at Best Buy. But one new release could level the retail playing field somewhat by offering smaller retailers access to actionable insights within their ecommerce hub that are similar to the data collected and used by bigger brands.

"The largest and most successful retailers know that data-driven insight is the secret to creating new revenue opportunities," said Tim Schulz, SVP of product at Bigcommerce. "Bigcommerce Analytics brings a level of customer insight that was previously only available for the largest brands at a significantly higher price point. Bigcommerce is bringing enterprise-grade technology to Main Street retailers at a price point designed for SMBs."

Some interesting platform tools include:

• Actionable insights at the consumer level including conversions, merchandising and orders
• Detailed analytics for social media and traditional campaigns
• Inventory data to optimize sales including current sales data
• The ability to see how consumers are acting while in the store to maximize conversions
