Top 4 tips to improve social presence
A recent study from Harris Interactive and MyLife shows we are using social networks more now than ever. More than 350 million images are uploaded to Facebook daily while the average Facebook user makes at least 30 posts per month.
With so many people using social networks to stay in touch with friends and family, it is becoming harder for businesses to properly use social networks. Jeff Tinsley is the CEO for MyLife and offers his advice for brands in the social space.
First, be entertaining. In straight marketing, offering dry facts up front is important. Facts are just as important in the social space, but straight facts can be boring.
"People want to be entertained! Post something highly relevant to the overall industry, post something funny or something that elicits feedback. The more customers come to your social sites for a good read, the more eyes you'll have when you slip in something you need them to see," said Tinsley.
Second, try to engage. Timely and relevant posts are important, but brands also need to push for engagement. Ask questions, offer advice or address a concern or compliment that has been brought up by customers.
Third, make the message consistent.
"It is important that your messaging is streamlined and consistent across all accounts. This can be a difficult task while managing Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts. Using a tool, like MyLife, allows you to aggregate all of the accounts you manage in one, easy-to-find place so you always stay organized," said Tinsely.
Fourth, pay attention to competitors, brand influencers and your customers. The social space is highly interactive. Brands need to know what is going on, both negatively and positively, regarding their company.
