Simply Measured releases Instagram brand adoption study
New figures released by social media measurement and analytics company, Simply Measured, reveal the significant rise in brand adoption of, and engagement with, social photo-sharing site Instagram within the last three months.
Of the Top 100 Interbrand brands, more than half (59%) now have a presence on Facebook-owned Instagram, up from 54% last November. Brands including Apple, IBM, and Google together gained more than 1.6 million Instagram followers in the three months to end January, 2013.
Furthermore, Instagram's 90 million or so monthly users are increasing engagement, reports Simply Measured, up 35% in the last quarter with the average number of Likes, Tweets, shares and comments per brand photo hitting 4,800.
Brands are upping their engagement levels, too. Instagram accounts that post at least once a week rose to 41% by end January, 2013, up from 34% in November, 2012.
Much of the growth is, no doubt, down to the purchase and integration of Instagram by Facebook. In fact, Facebook is where most brands share photos - 98% of the 2,608 photos shared by Interbrand's Top 100 brands on Instagram in the last three months were posted to Facebook. Just 59% were posted to Twitter.
"The brands that have recognized the power of reaching out to this mobile audience, and who have developed successful content strategies to engage them have earned a share of the more than 1.6 million new followers gained by Interbrand 100 accounts over the past three months," says Simply Measured.
