America's favorite retailer has no store

America's favorite retailer has been announced and it doesn't have a store. Such are the findings of a survey by global strategists OC&C Strategy Consultants.

by Helen Leggatt has been found by OC&C's survey to be America's favorite retailer. Respondents ranked retailers based on their overall strength as well as considering various other factors including value, quality, variety, product relevance, service, trust, store usability and quality of website (if online-only).

In addition to being voted best overall, Amazon topped the rankings for value, variety, online shopping and product relevance.

Brick-and-mortar stores needn't worry that they're taking a backseat to online retailers. Most of the remaining ranked retailers weren't online-only players. Dollar Tree led the rankings for low prices, along with Aldi and Ross Dress for Less.

Williams-Sonoma led the in-store look and feel rankings followed by Crate & Barrel and Nordstrom.

Williams-Sonoma also came top in quality, followed by Whole Foods Market and the Apple Store. Trader Joe's came first in the service category, followed by Zappos and Bath and Body Works.

The most-improved retailer was J. Crew.
