Two releases make it simpler for consumers to shop, share online
As shopping goes social brands are jumping into the social space at a rapid speed. Two new releases may help brands engage consumers at a deeper level - and at the same time make it simpler for product deals and launches to go viral.
The first, called Want, allows merchants to connect with shoppers through the new Facebook Timeline using Open Graph technology. Through the tool shoppers share items on their 'things to buy' wish lists with friends throughout the social network.
"The Want button has not only increased our social footprint, but it also has improved our exposure to like-minded shoppers, and this context is what makes the Want button stand out," said Sam Grossman, marketing manager of Sharper Image. "We've found that shoppers who create Want lists purchase at a much higher rate and also have a 21% higher average order value than our other traffic."
The interface is simple to use: merchants simple add the 'Want' button to a product page and when a shopper clicks that button a Want List is created and shared via Facebook Timeline. The tool creates inbound links to product pages, too, which can impact organic search returns.
And, from Linkable Networks, tools which help consumers manage deals and share through social networks. The company is launching the MyLinkables mobile app for Android and iOS devices, making linkable offers from merchants mobile and shareable.
"We continue to deepen our commitment in the space with the new MyLinkables mobile app, mobile API and social API," said Tom Burgess, CEO of Linkable Networks. "The growing consumer desire for 'on-demand' mobile access to any online properties, the proliferation of couponing and the mass appeal of sharing with friends told us it was time to bring even more convenience to shoppers with a MyLinkables app. With smartphone shopping on the rise, our new developer tools will allow mobile app developers to link enable any deal or ad, further proliferating card linked offers in the mobile world."
Linkables allows shoppers a frictionless shopping experience, linking retail discounts from online, print and television ads directly to a credit or debit card.
