Survey: Mobile gamers do it in bed

The number of people playing mobile games continues to increase, but it may surprise you just where these gamers are playing and engaging with their favorite games. MocoSpace recently surveyed more than 15,000 gamers in their system and found that, of those playing at least once per day, most (92%) are playing at home.

And, when playing at home, they're likely to play in bed (51%). At-home gamers are also playing in living rooms (41%), in the bathroom (5%) and at the dinner table (1%).

"This report should make every console gaming company nervous," said MocoSpace co-founder and CEO Justin Siegel. "Mobile gaming is not a companion to consoles, but rather it's attacking them on their home turf:the couch, the La-Z-Boy and even the bedroom."

Other interesting findings include:

• 62% of mobile gamers play social games
• 53% play action games
• 40% play puzzle games
• 28% play casino style games

What's more, these gamers aren't logging on to play a field in Farmville, they are playing for extended amounts of time on their mobile devices. More than half (52%) play mobile games more than an hour each day while nearly one-third (32%) play more than three hours each day. By the way, when they aren't playing at home 10% of mobile games play three or more hours from work.
