USPS to propose repeat mobile barcode promo

Recognizing a trend in the use of QR codes by mailers the U.S. Postal Service is planning to re-run last summer's barcode promotion.

by Helen Leggatt

According to a report in Direct Marketing News, the U.S. Postal Service's previous barcode promotion was so successful it is planning to develop another similar promotion for this summer.

Last year, between 1 July and 31 August, the U.S. Postal Service offered a 3% upfront discount to mailers who included 2-D barcodes as part of their mailing.

No specific details on this year's promotion will be released ahead of the U.S. Postal Services' board of governors meeting to be held on February 8, 2012. But, talking to Direct Marketing News, U.S. Postal Service vice president of domestic products, Gary Reblin, said some changes would be made to last summer's promotion to incorporate best practices and make the campaign more specific.
