GetResponse: Social sharing ups CTRs 115%

Late in 2011 StrongMail and Zoomerang reported businesses are keen to integrate email, social and mobile efforts. Less than a month later, GetResponse reports there is already an increase in email marketers including social sharing features - and that the inclusion of these features can improve click-thrus by up to 115%.

New data from GetResponse shows 18% of email marketers are using social sharing icons within messages but of that 18% just over half include only one social sharing option. For example, only including Facebook. While including Facebook sharing options is great - it is the top social network, after all - ignoring sites like Pinterest, Google+, Twitter and Tumblr could alienate subscribers who prefer sharing in 'alternate' social networks.

Other interesting findings include:

• Including social links can increase click-thrus by up to 115%
• 40% more email marketers are using social sharing links now than last year

Back to the StrongMail forecast, their data indicated that, on a global scale, 68% of marketers planned to integrate social and email features and 44% planned to integrate email and mobile. StrongMail respondents said building loyalty, brand/product awareness and expanding the brand footprint were some of the top goals for 2012 and adding these integrations would help meet those goals.

Wondering how much time you're spending dealing with the 'same old' emails every day? ToutApp has created a platform that will scan your email program and from the information there create an infographic telling how you've used email in the past. From there, it is simple to make adjustments so that email works for you rather than you working for email.
