Today, China's global market share sits at 7.1%, second to the US with its massive 47% share.

At the current rate of growth China is estimated to overtake the US as soon as the end of 2013.

According to stats released last week by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China is the country with the most mobile users in the world with over 952 million users. Over 12.2 million new mobile phone users signed up in September alone.

While Apple stores, real and fake, have entered the country the device accounts for just 16% of the smartphone market.
