App releases may help advertisers connect on a deeper levels

New data from Borrell Associates finds that by 2016 most local ads will be served through mobile devices (88%); just over 6% of local online ads were served via mobile this year. As more tablets and smartphones are sold, much of that spend will be through mobile ads, but apps are likely to remain important to the mobiles space. To that end, three new releases may help brands engage.

From j2 Global, the eVoice and eFax apps were created to help employees do their job outside of an office environment. The eVoice VoIP App, released for iOS devices, allows people to connect through 3- or 4G connections using VoIP services, saving cell phone minutes and allowing for connections with cell signals may be weak or faded. It also turns the iPad into a business phone system complete with an answer attendant, call routing and multiple extensions; transcripts of phone calls can be sent through text or email following calls. And the eFax App, released for Android devices, allows business people to manage documents from remote locations. It is enabled to manage large files, digital signatures and offers storage and search functions.

Meanwhile, in the Android space, Adobe has released new TouchApps, available for consumers running Android 3.1 or higher devices. The apps integrate with file viewing, sharing and transfer features making it simpler for employees to stay connected to work even if working from different office locations. They've also released the Adobe Creative Cloud to Android devices with releases to iOS systems coming soon.

And, news from Mojiva and Microsoft Advertising could open more mobile space. Through their agreement Mojiva will integrate their mobile ad platform into Microsoft Advertising's suite of tools including AdExpert, pubCenter and adCenter. The Mocean platform will power Microsoft's network of mobile apps and websites while the Mojiva mobile ad network will integrate with the Microsoft Ad Exchange for Mobile.

Finally, GetResponse has released an app center set up to help email marketers browse and integrate apps into their campaigns. Through the platform email marketers can integrate with Salesforce.com and Zendesk CRM's, with social networks, with CMS platforms including WordPress and Joomla! And with e-commerce platforms including osCommerce.
