Frontier Communications, Yahoo to co-brand email experience

A new partnership between Yahoo and Frontier Communications may give rural American consumers better access to online content. Frontier Communications is the largest communication services provider for rural areas in America; through the partnership Yahoo will power content, offering a co-branded experience for consumers.

frontier-yahoo.pngFor rural customers in 27 states, email is about to get more content. Through an expansion between Frontier Communications and Yahoo, these consumers will soon have more content delivered when they check email.

"Our customers want access to the most complete suite of communication and digital content services available, and Yahoo!, with its superior package of easy-to-use features, was the logical partner," said Melinda White, Frontier's executive vice president, Revenue Development. "Yahoo! is more than an industry leader across multiple content and communications categories; like Frontier, it values delivering personalized digital experiences consumers seek from the Internet. For example, our current co-branded Frontier-Yahoo! homepage is customizable, enabling us to integrate Frontier's products and features, delivering more value as we engage with our customers and expand the speed and reach of our broadband network."

Yahoo is the leading web-based email provider in the US. As most users know, once they log-in, they have access to a home page offering links to their email but also hosting links to news, entertainment, sports and weather information. That information can be customized according to the user, so that only the news of interest to them is seen when they log in.

The new, co-branded websites will be integrated to Frontier's email service later this year. Yahoo and Frontier first partnered together in 2008. The email integration is an expansion of that original partnership. Subscribers will begin seeing the changes to their service later this year.
