Partnership may curtail shopping cart abandonment

Etailers know that shopping cart abandonment is one of their biggest issues. A new partnership between Miva Merchant and Listrak may help etailers better react to abandoned carts, and possibly decrease cart abandonment.

listrak.jpgIn a recent report, experts estimated that etailers lose up to $18 billion annually to shopping cart abandonment. Meanwhile, Forrester Research estimates that 70% of online shoppers abandon shopping carts. Some online shoppers abandon carts to comparison shop, some to return at a later time and some because of the on-site experience.

"Shopping cart recovery is one of the most important tools available to our merchants today and is often the most meaningful to their bottom line," said Rick Wilson, Miva Merchant COO. "We're excited that our merchants now have another tool in their chest thanks to our new partnership with Listrak, a leader in this space."

The Listrak/Miva Merchant partnership, Shopping Cart Abandonment Solution, sends automated email campaigns to cart abandoners. The messages contain 'dynamic merchandising', set up to remind consumers of the items abandoned on-site. Consumers are then given the option to complete the purchase.

"Our partnership with Miva Merchant enables us to provide retailers with an automated solution that is easily integrated with the platform and provides immediate impact to their online revenue," said Ross Kramer, Listrak CEO. "Our focus is not just email marketing, it's on providing solutions and services that drive business and ROI; and this partnership enables us to provide that for Miva Merchant clients more easily."

Email remarketing campaigns have been shown re-engage consumers with abandoned carts.
