New solution IDs language, offers translation

The globe may be the same size now as it was a billion years ago, but with the reach of the Internet it is simpler than ever for brands in one region to reach shoppers in another. A new release from OpinionLab should make that reach even simpler by offering real time translations.

opinionlab.gifThe release gives businesses the ability to interpret global consumer feedback within minutes so that it is simpler to solve problems or respond to shoppers no matter how physically distant the brand is to the consumer. Translations are offered in real time, with most translations taking only seconds. Currently the platform does not support the translation of regional dialects.

"When we developed the first opt-in, digital-feedback system over a decade ago, the business landscape was much different. Today, most of our clients have a global presence, with customers worldwide," said Rand Nickerson, CEO of OpinionLab. "By advancing our feedback-translation services, we are helping global companies better communicate and engage with their customers in a range of different languages so that they can generate, understand, and manage multilingual feedback in real time."

Here is how the platform works: a shopper fills out a comment card or otherwise sends a message to the brand. The engine identifies the language in which the comment was written and then automatically translates the message into the brand's 'home' language - English for a brand in the US, French for a brand in France, etc.

The system makes it easier for brands to understand and respond to consumers across the globe, but also gives them a simpler solution to the global translation issue. Rather than depending on an outside system, the OpinionLab platform offers translation within the brand's control.
