M&S logo.pngThe high street retailer has appointed search agency Propellernet the task of increasing its search profile with external sites, carried out through online PR and marketing, as well as technical search tools.

Links to M&S brand content will be targeted at external sites in order to develop in-bound links, pushing M&S up the rankings.

"This approach to link-building will play a major role in driving incremental revenue through natural search and will help us achieve our growth targets for M&S Direct," said M&S head of online acquisition Rob Freedman.

In other M&S news, the store's mobile commerce site came top of an eDigitalResearch report into consumer satisfaction, scoring 88.8%, up from second place last September.
According to the report, M&S customers benefit from a 'functional yet stylish' mobile site which compliments its regular online offering.

"With the popularity of smart devices set to continue growing, more and more retailers are now developing m-commerce sites to facilitate shopping on the move," said Derek Eccleston, research director at eDigitalResearch.

"It is essential that browsing and shopping via a smart device is quick and simple, yet provides the same functionality and design as a retailers standard website accessed via a PC."
