gWallet, Old Navy partner for unique online experience
Hey, game developers, are you looking for a challenge? Retailer Old Navy and social monetization hub gWallet have a challenge for you: they are looking for the next great social game. Beginning February 1, 2011, the "Game ON!: The Old Navy Developers Challenge" will ask game developers to put their creativity to the test for a new game.
Developers will have ten days to create their game, which should be centered around the Old Navy brand. What is the retailer looking for? A branded experience for consumers; they want the game to be available through social networks and the virtual world with the focus on engagement.
After the initial ten day creation process, the top three games will be chose by Old Navy and gWallet. The top three games will be made live for a two week period. During the two week 'test phase' consumers playing the game will be given rewards which can be redeemed for virtual currency creating revenue for the game.
"Our top priority has been working with major brands to find creative ways they can access social game players," said Rebecca Weeks Watson, VP of Business Development at gWallet. "Having sponsored successful virtual parties in games this past holiday season, Old Navy has established itself as a leader in the space, and the 'Old Navy Developers Challenge' is the perfect collaboration to leverage the innovation of both companies to give developers a fun and easy way to show off their skills."
How will a winner be chosen? A panel of judges will view a demonstration from each finalist on March 1 during the ">"Old Navy Developers Challenge" and will determine the winning game integration. The winner receives a $15,000 prize and will have their game featured in trade publications and on fan pages for gWallet and Old Navy. Execs from Old Navy, AKQA, Crowdstar and gWallet will be on the judges panel.
Developers interested in the challenge need to sign up here by January 31.
