Grocey app gives consumers instant benefits
The next generation of coupons may be simpler to use than many believed. This week, Pushpins is launching a new mobile grocery coupon app which gives consumers instant access to savings. In the past many coupon type apps have been useable only after a consumer uploaded information from a website; this app allows consumers to scan UPC codes to instantly download savings.
"Pushpins are just like the coupons you used to clip, but now we make it as simple as a scan and a swipe to instantly save money on your favorite products. The best part is that you don't have to earn thousands of points or become the 'mayor' of anything to get savings," said Jason Gurwin, CEO and co-founder of Pushpins. "Pushpins users get real savings from their very first day and every single time they shop."
The app is supported by more than 2,000 stores nationwide. In addition to giving consumers coupons for the brand scanned, the app will notify them of related product coupons as well, giving brands another reason to include coupons for different items. The deals may also be shared with friends or family through social networks.
A recent study from Coupons.com found that about 40% of US adults don't look online for coupons before shopping. While some may believe online coupons can only be redeemed online, but many simply don't have the time to search or they don't want to find online coupons, print them out and take them to the story. The Pushpins app makes the coupon-printing step obsolete because savings are uploaded directly to the app for in-store redemption.
Once a UPC code is scanned and a coupon 'accepted' by the consumer, the details are uploaded wirelessly to the consumer's rewards or club card and are redeemed at check-out.
