Brainshark includes video, voice in online presentations

The days of static flow charts are over, from a presentation standpoint at least. Brainshark has revamped how online presentations look and feel by adding in video and voice capabilities. The best part? The creation end is geared toward the average business consumer, so all non-techies will feel comfortable. Why the addition of video and voice?

"Studies show that audiences respond to information better when using audio and visual tools," said Andy Zimmerman, Vice President and General Manager of "When you combine voice, visual and video it is a more effective way to engage your audience and a more effective way for them to learn. Even during required training or learning sessions, you need to have something punchy and quick so that the audience is engaged."

There are two options with the platform, myBrainshark is geared toward the smaller business while the Enterprise products are geared toward bigger brands and businesses. Both options include slides, video, audio, polling and Q&A type information. The key, according to Brainshark executives is to keep the content simple and easy to consume.

"We think 2-3 minutes is a good length for prospecting or marketing uses, but for on-demand webinars 10-20 minutes works well," said Zimmerman. "Training content can be anywhere from 15 minutes and up, depending on the type of training that is needed. We see an average of 8 minutes per presentation."

What does this type of presentation offer sales or marketing departments? Versatility. Rather than creating a single campaign which has to be taken 'off the shelf' when a new product becomes available, presentations can simply be updated to include the new information, website URL or other detailing.

"I call it extending the shelf-life of the product. Especially with video, it can take time to create and edit new clips," said Zimmerman. "Our platform makes it simple to make those changes so that the content is always the most current available."
